Efficient titanium dioxide substitute | TiO2

Recommendations for product application in water-based systems of paintwork materials

Every prospective PK-PIGMENT consumer is guided by its process procedure and its technical conditions in the course of manufacturing pigment paintwork materials.

Example:

Carry out preliminary estimation of PK-PIGMENT material in white mat interior emulsion paint.

Start with 50% substitution of titanium dioxide according to PK-PIGMENT quantity and weight.

It is necessary to provide intensive dispersion of PK-PIGMENT in paste. Insufficient dispersion will result in the loss of the efficiency of PK-PIGMENT used as titanium dioxide substitute.

For the achievement of high-level dispersion in paste we recommend as follows:

  •  At the moment of PK-PIGMENT addition paste pH is to be more than 9;
  • pH of 9.5 is the optimum value. We advise controlling pH in paste using NaOH. The order of adding (introducing) pigments and fillers is very important. It is advisable to introduce at first PK-pigment and disperse it within 3-4 minutes, then add titanium dioxide, after which add fillers.
